Third Thursday Business Builders Get Sites Project Update
Members and guests of the Colusa County Chamber's Third Thursday Business Builders Lunch received an inside look at one of California's largest water infrastructure projects during this month's luncheon at Rocco's Bar & Grill.

Guest speaker Kevin Spesert of the Sites Project Authority provided an update on the progress of the Sites Reservoir Project, discussing the project's purpose, current status, timeline, and the long-term benefits it is expected to bring to California's water supply and the surrounding region.
Spesert was joined by Brian Bunch, Project Manager, and Bill Sutter, Superintendent with Barnard Construction, the Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) for the initial phase of construction. Together, they shared insights into the early construction activities now underway, the challenges of managing a project of this scale, and the close collaboration between the Sites Project Authority, contractors, and local communities.
A significant portion of the discussion focused on opportunities for local businesses. Bunch emphasized that Barnard Construction is committed to utilizing local vendors, suppliers, and service providers whenever possible, noting that keeping as much of the project's economic impact in the local community as possible is a major objective. He encouraged area businesses interested in working on the project to reach out directly, providing the contact email sitesreservoir@barnard-inc.com for businesses seeking contracting and procurement opportunities.
Spesert reinforced that commitment, emphasizing that the Sites Reservoir Project is fundamentally a local project with local leadership. He noted that the project team recognizes the importance of maintaining strong relationships with the communities surrounding the reservoir and ensuring local voices remain part of the project's success.
Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions about construction schedules, local economic impacts, workforce opportunities, environmental stewardship, and the long-term vision for the reservoir. The discussion highlighted the significance of the project not only for California's future water reliability, but also for the businesses, residents, and economy of Colusa County and the surrounding region.
The Chamber extends its appreciation to Kevin Spesert, Brian Bunch, and Bill Sutter for taking the time to provide an informative and engaging presentation.
The Colusa County Chamber's Third Thursday Business Builders Lunch series brings together business leaders, community organizations, and government representatives each month to exchange ideas, build connections, and learn about the projects, initiatives, and opportunities shaping the future of Colusa County.
